Why do you want serve in the positions you’ve selected?

Being able to attend RYLA camp as a camper, has truly changed my life for the better. I was able to grow as a leader along with other kids my age. I learned how to respect the different leadership styles of those around me, and I would give anything to get the opportunity to give this gift to others. I think it is so important to pass on what we have learned, and so I believe I would be a great asset to the JC team. I want to help others gain the confidence I did when I went to RYLA. I think I have many qualities that would make me a great candidate for this position. Even if I can’t be a JC, I hope I can be there as a photographer. RYLA has made a huge impact on my life, and I really hope I will be blessed enough to be a part of it again.

How has your experience as RYLA participante impacted you?

As I said before, RYLA has been one of the most impactful experiences in my life. When I first arrived at RYLA, I was a little nervous about what all it would entail. I was shy, and my leadership skills needed development. However, as the week progressed, I opened up more and more. I was able to come to terms with my past and accept what I couldn’t control. I learned how to embrace my leadership strengths, and work well with the strengths of others. RYLA pushed me to advocate for my community and develop a service project. I’m still talking about my experience at RYLA. This camp has meant so much to me, and I have recommended it to a lot of people. If it weren’t for Rotary, I would never have heard of this camp. The friendships I have made at this camp are still strong. I still talk to my cainmates all the time. RYLA has been one of the best experiences of my life, and I really hope I can be a part of it again!

How do you feel you can contribute and grow RYLA?

I’ve already talked about how RYLA has helped me, but more importantly, I think it’s important to know what I can do at RYLA. RYLAs mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. I think it is important to embrace this mission as a representative of the RYLA foundation. I uphold all the characteristics that make a JC exceptional. I demonstrate my noteworthy leadership skills through my exemplary communication skills. Because of my leadership experience gained at RYLA, I have grown comfortable leading a group of peers.I have showed continual confidence, especially in my role in helping my community. I will apply proper techniques in helping the RYLArians develop their leadership skills. I recognize the importance in breaking boundaries, being bold, and being the initiator. I am a very well rounded individual. I am involved in over 18 school sponsored activities and clubs. I am also actively involved in my community. I am president of my class, and student of the month for March. I am a Certified Practical Nurse, and therefore have substantial training in emergency situations. I love the opportunity to help others around me, especially my peers. Finally, I was once a RYLA camper. I know what its like to be in their position. I want to help the RYLArians build their leadership skills. I had amazing leaders, and I want to make that difference as well.
