Vision

Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.

I hope to improve my leadership skills and learn better communication through RYLA. I want to be a psychologist when I am older, and I will need exceptional social skills to be successful. Leadership is something I have always wanted to improve on. I want to use my leadership skills to help others. I am hoping RYLA will help me better understand how to harness my ability to lead and help me understand how to effectively communicate with others.

Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?

To me, “service above self” means thinking of others before thinking of yourself. I do not want to be a selfish leader. I want to help others and put their issues and feelings before my own. Selfishness is not a trait I wish to have. I want to be considered a leader who is selfless and helpful.
