Vision

Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.

By participating in RYLA, I hope to make memories, have fun, and learn how to be a better leader (as this can be an area in which I struggle). I want to know how to be confident in myself and spread this to others around me. Next year I will be a senior and I want to be able to guide the underclassmen as well as my younger siblings.

Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?

To me this means putting what you want aside and caring for others and what they want or need. It remains an act of true love and care towards humanity. Service above self must also be done with a good mindset or attitude if it is to be a truly selfless act.

Past and Current Experience

Have you ever volunteered before? – Yes

List any past or present volunteer experiences including dates volunteered and position responsibilities.

Each week I help at my local church, setting up beforehand and clean up afterwards (taking out the trash, putting away chairs and cleaning up the kitchen after potluck or treats)
For the past three years I have also volunteered to help the community through the FFA chapter for things such as Wreaths Across America and the trash pickup along the highway. (Some dates were 9/9/2023 for trash pickup and 12/17/2022 for Wreaths Across America)

Do you currently have a job? – Yes

List up to three past or current paid job experience including dates employed and responsibilities. Start with your most recent

Last summer (2023) I had a job working at Shirly K’s. I worked from the very end of May until mid August. As an employee I made drinks, washed dishes, waitressed, kept the place clean: sweep, wipe windows, sterilize equipment etc…, as well as restocked.

In 2022 I did the library internship for the summer. Around the time of mid May to mid August. Some of my duties there were to reshelve books, dust, check books in and out, vacuum/sweep, read books to the little kids at book club, organize activities (like a scanner hunt), keep the little free library operable as well as the story on the walking path (when it used to be up), and document/ save the photographs from Hugh Butler.

2021. This was a summer job with varying hours throughout the week. Me (and my sisters) worked for Phyllis (who used to live at the yellow house by the school). We babysat her seven puppies. Socializing them, feeding them, and cleaning up their area.
