Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.

In applying for RYLA and if accepted, I am anxious to make the most of my experience. I hope to gain leadership skills, confidence, and a better understanding of my own strengths. I hope to grow socially, personally and mentally. I look forward to gaining new friendships as well. I plan to use these skills to become a better leader in the classroom and in my community. I would be very honored and proud to be accepted as a RYLA participant.

Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?

Service above self means several things to me. It means doing something for someone else without being asked or expecting anything in return. To me, is also means caring and focusing on the needs of others and my community. It is being kind, sincere and selfless. It can be through volunteering or simply helping a friend, neighbor, or even a stranger in need. By doing these things and putting others first, hopefully it makes their lives a little easier and happier. I have always taken great pride in putting forth my best effort in everything I do.
