Vision

Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.

RYLA a great opportunity to grow in leadership and communication skills. I have several leadership positions in my community and school, such as being FFA, FBLA, Jr. Leaders, and 4-H officers; along with cheer captain. These positions all require leadership and communication which are vital skills to have. This opportunity that they are presenting me with would be an excellent way to give back to our community and school. I would be able to bring back the skills, ideas, and knowledge that I learned there and implement them into our community through my leadership positions and activities.
I hope to gain the pleasure of going to RYLA to meet new people, become more educated, and improve my skills. Thank you for considering me for this opportunity.

Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?

This motto means that we should help others rather than being selfish and thinking of only personal gain. To me personally, I like to think of it as giving back to the community that has given me so much. Our community members and the City Board have worked hard to make sure students and organizations within our school and community are supported, provided for, and are given amazing, educational, interpersonal, and professional opportunities. They have never failed to support fundraisers, donate money, step in to help someone in need, fund community events, etc… Due to everything that has been done for us, I would love to give back in any way possible; which is what “service over self” means for me.
