Vision
Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.
I hope to gain knowledge, new friends, and an improvement of my leadership skills. Relationships are important to me, and I know that the more acquaintances I make, the more I will learn about others. I strive to use my leadership qualities to be a positive influence in my community. I hope that attending RYLA will broaden my horizons and allow me to connect with new people, learn multiple perspectives, and better lead the friends and neighbors in my hometown area!
Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?
The motto “service above self” is an extremely influential phrase that goes beyond words. To me, this phrase is how I can act humbly and serve others no matter who they are. I have demonstrated the motto by participating in my local Interact/Rotary’s annual trash pickup along the highway, wrapping Christmas gifts for community members, donating backpacks to students in need, and volunteering my time by assisting teachers who supervise the after-school program. I always feel proud and happy when I serve my community.
