Vision

Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.

By getting the opportunity to attend RYLA I’d like to improve my leadership skills, and meet other people that are interested in that same goal. I love to use critical thinking skills to problem solve, and with this opportunity I could further those skills along with building bonds with others.

Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?

Service above self is a motto I live by on the daily. I love to help others in any way I can, and value selflessness. Service above self is not so much about putting others needs above your own though, and instead is much more about doing something bigger than yourself and helping the community in any way you can.

Have you ever volunteered before? – Yes

List any past or present volunteer experiences including dates volunteered and position responsibilities.

Throughout the last five years I’ve volunteered through the the Nursing Home (Aventara/Golden Living/Skyline), Key Club (Kiwanis for Highschool), Teen Court, Debate, Oral Interp, Political Campaigns, WHS Activities Office, SADD, Arrow Ambassadors, Student Council, Corner Stone, and others. I have specific dates for all of these if you wish to see, and the hours total over 900. Some of my responsibilities have been hosting conferences, defending and prosecuting defendants, running activities with Residents, making items to donate, running cameras at sporting events, knocking doors, and making calls.
