Vision
Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.
In this new experience I hope to gain new skills and friendships by participating in RYLA. I hope to gain confidence in teaching others how to lead along with learning myself. I hope to gain new friendships to branch out and not be as shy and more willing to talk to people and not be so nervous.
Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?
This to me means that you are putting the more important things before yourself and making them count and your putting other people’s needs before their own to lead them and teach them.
Past and Current Experience
Have you ever volunteered before? – Yes
List any past or present volunteer experiences including dates volunteered and position responsibilities.
I help in the concession stand at school when they need it. I’ve helped every year since 7th grade at Bertrand Brews and BBQ- I help take money at the gate, set up tables, pass out silverware and take out trash. I Volunteered at our annual FFA horse show this past year; I announced the winners, helped set up, and organize/pass out the ribbons. I’ve helped every year since 7th grade at the Bertrand Annual Craft Fair; I set up tables, tape the vendor sections, help vendors bring their items in and out of the building, I take their lunch orders and bring it to them, and help clean up after. I volunteer to help sort out fruit for our annual FFA Fruit sales since last year. There are other things that I volunteer for as they arise in the community; I don’t necessarily have dates for these things I just usually help whenever it is needed.
