Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.
I want to gain many leadership skills such as communication, problem solving, and adaptability. I also am looking forward to meeting new people and creating new friendships and bonds with one another.
Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?
The motto “service above self” means that everything that is important to you in your life like your community, people that you know and love, and putting everything and everyone above yourself. It means to have selflessness and put the needs of others, community, and the world above one’s own interests.

A couple years ago I volunteered at my church Christ Lutheran Church in St. Paul , Nebraska. I helped with the Vacation Bible School for a week.I helped prepare food, worked with the kids, and helped set up. I also was a student manager for the softball team here in St. Paul for 3 years. Some of my jobs would be to help shag balls, carry things to the field, and take stats. One other job I have done is babysitting and helping my neighbor water her flowers during the summer.

My first year in the job world, I detaslled during the summer. Now I work at the local grocery store here in St. Paul called Hometown Market. My duties here include stock, checking, and facing. I have learned lots of skills like communication and money management. I have been working here for about 2 years, while juggling school academics and sports.
Have you received any awards or honors? – Yes

I have received many awards for academics and sports activities. I lettered in track my freshman year, and although I didn’t letter in volleyball my freshman year, I still got to be a part of the varsity team. I have also been on the all “A” and “B” Honor Roll, and was on the all “A” Honor Roll my freshman year.

I have been a part of many extracurricular activities throughout my junior high and high school years. I have been a part of FCA (fellowship of Christian athletes), FFA, volleyball, and track.
