Vision

Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.

I hope to gain leadership experience that can help me in all areas of my life. After graduation I would like to attend a college that would allow me to get a commercial pilots license and a bachelor’s degree in business. I would also like to take corporate leadership classes. I feel that attending this camp would help me with my career goals. I want to be a strong leader at college and in the cockpit. I’m currently taking flight lessons to obtain my private pilots license in Nebraska. These lessons are showing me that strong leadership skills are going to be needed as I further my education. I also want improve my self-confidence and meet others that share similar interests.

Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?

“Service above self,” means that I need to be able to rise above meeting my own needs and see how I could best help everyone around me. I need to look at the big picture and see what services I can bring to help those in the biggest time of need. Monday, my mom stepped on a nail when we were unloading old wood from our deck. I immediatly took her to the Urgent Care and stayed with her. I had other plans, but I knew that my mom’s medical needs came before my plans. I felt good about myself for helping my mom.
