Vision

Please explain what you hope to gain by participating in RYLA.

By participating in RYLA, I hope to learn more about how to organize and lead a team. I think RYLA would be a good opportunity for me to get out of my comfort zone and help me to meet new people and make new friends. I’m also interested in how I can pioneer change within my own community.

Rotary’s motto is “service above self.” What does that mean to you?

To me, “service above self” means putting others needs before your own, and learning that you have to make sacrifices to help others. There are times when volunteering or donating isn’t an easy task, but I believe it is our responsibility to do our best to improve the lives of those around us.

I’ve had the opportunity to volunteer at multiple youth sports camps for volleyball and tennis over the summer. I’ve also volunteered at multiple outreach events for our local children’s museum, helping to organize and run them.

I am a member of the National Honors Society, and I was also selected to attend the HOBY youth leadership seminar over the upcoming summer. Last summer, as a freshman, I was able to compete at the National Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) conference by finishing third in the state for Introduction to Marketing Concepts.
